As an adjunctive therapy in osteoarthritis Glucosamine is a simple molecule manufactured by the body. It stimulates the manufacture of glycosaminoglycans, which are key structural components of cartilage. The inability to manufacture sufficient levels of glucosamine is believed to be the major factor leading to osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis. The weight-bearing joints like the knees, hips and joints of the hands are most often affected by the degenerative changes associated with osteoarthritis. As the disease progresses, the cartilage loses its ability to act as shock absorber, which causes pain upon motion of the affected joints. This will eventually lead to deformity and limitation of motion in the joints. BiO-LiFE Glucosamine 500mg provides glucosamine in the form of glucosamine sulphate, as an adjunctive therapy in osteoarthritis. Dosage Light to moderate symptoms: One tablet twice daily for at least 8 weeks. Severe symptoms: Initially treatment of one tablet three times daily is recommended during a period of at least 8 weeks. Maintenance therapy should be followed for 3-4 months by administration of one tablet twice daily. The treatment of osteoarthritis should be repeated every other 6 months or less according to medical prescription. Contra-Indications/ Caution Contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to glucosamine.
